What is the Difference Between Essential and Fixed Oils?

Essential oils are derived from aromatic plants. Essential oils have unique odor, taste, color and appearance and they are essential mixtures. They are liquid at room temperature, but some can freeze, such as rose oil. Insoluble in water. They are usually produced by distillation. Essential oils are produced from plant's flowers, leaves, rhizome, shells etc. They are used in cosmetics, aromatherapy, food, agriculture, veterinary medicine as an active ingredient or auxiliary material.

Essential oils evaporate at room temperature. They are easily absorbed on the skin and can be used externally by mixing with fixed oils in certain proportions. It should be taken internally under the control of health professionals. Fixed oils are usually obtained by cold press or by organic solvents. Fixed oils are the storage material in plants and are obtained from the seeds, kernels and fruits of the plant. Insoluble in water. They are usually produced by cold press or hot press method. For the hot press method,the plant part is first roasted by heat treatment and then pressed. With this method, more oil is derived from the plant. However, most of the vitamins, minerals and other health-promoting substances in the fat disappear.
